Rooftop solar photovoltaic(PV) installation in India have increased lastdecade because of the flat 40 percent subsidy extended for rooftop solarPV systems (3 kWp and below) by Indian government under solarrooftop scheme. From residential building owner’s perspective, PVis competitive when it can produce electricity at a cost less than or equalgrid price, condition referred as “grid parity”. For assessing gridparity 3 2 PV system, 15 states capitaland 19 major cities were considered RET screen simulation usingsolar isolation, utility grid tariff, system other economic parameters.3 with without scenarioswere using RETscreen software. We estimate thatwithout no state could achieve parity 2kWp plant. However plant only 5 couldachieve number ofstates to 7, yet wide spread isstill not achieved. find that high costs, subsidized supply low energy consumer financing rates are barriers
